Job Summary

The Business Development (M&A) Director will play a crucial role in identifying and pursuing new M&A opportunities to support the Company's strategic growth objectives. This role will involve proactively identifying potential acquisition targets, conducting market research and analysis, and developing relationships with key stakeholders in the industry. The ideal candidate will be an expert collaborator working closely with the Executive Team to evaluate the feasibility and strategic fit of potential acquisitions, build relationships with industry participants, manage the pipeline of opportunities and lead negotiations. Additionally, this role will be responsible for creating business cases, financial models, and presenting recommendations to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate new M&A opportunities aligned with the Company's growth strategy.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to assess market trends, competitive dynamics, and potential acquisition targets; Build a strong understanding of target markets and customer groups through a range of sources.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners, investment banks, and other relevant stakeholders to source new deal opportunities; manage buy-side engagement companies and brokers to maximize deal flow.
  • Organize and facilitate a broad sourcing process that leverages the management team, former owners, senior industry contacts, and third‐party resources.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with potential targets through proactive outreach; attend industry events and conferences to generate potential leads/opportunities.
  • Execute outbound prospecting activities, including calls and emails, to engage with target companies.
  • Drive productive interaction with leadership to define strategic requirements and associated partnership acquisition opportunities.
  • Develop, prioritize, and manage the appropriate list of target candidates and update CRM system appropriately.
  • Prepare business cases, financial models, and presentations to support M&A recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Partner with EVP, Corporate Development to prepare and propose deal terms via LOI & Term Sheet.
  • Monitor and analyze industry trends, regulatory changes, and market opportunities to identify new growth avenues and potential targets.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business development, corporate development, investment banking, or related fields.
  • Proven track record of identifying and executing successful M&A transactions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish rapport and maintain collaborative relationships, both internally and with prospective acquisition candidates.
  • Exhibits disciplined project management processes and communications over long cycles.
  • Strong negotiations skills, ability to lead the front end of a deal process to LOI.
  • Strong Executive presence with the credibility and gravitas to engage and influence senior-level leaders.
  • Embraces “science of sales” methodology – metrics orientation.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in financial modeling, valuation, and deal structuring.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think analytically and identify growth opportunities aligned with business objectives.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

 

Travel:

  • As needed (could be up to 50% of your time)
